Don’t wear your age. Bring back your youthful appearance with a facelift from Dr. Heather Waters
Is your face starting to show your age? Have years of stress and hard work taken a toll on your look?
As you age, excess skin collects in certain places on your body, including your face. This causes wrinkles and loose skin, and can make you look less youthful and unhealthy. To combat this problem, over 121,000 (1) Americans in 2018 made the decision to stop their face from showing their age with a facelift.
You may not be getting any younger, but your skin and face can look like it with a facelift (rhytidectomy) from CT ENT's Facial Cosmetic Surgeon. Take the first step today by requesting an appointment with Dr. Heather Waters.
Don’t let your face hang loose. Look and feel refreshed and relaxed without saggy skin.
“While there are more options than ever to rejuvenate the face, a facelift done by a board-certified plastic surgeon can give a dramatic, longer-lasting result...” -- ASPS President Debra Johnson, MD (2)
Is your face saying what you want it to say when meeting someone for the first time, interviewing for a job, or connecting with an old friend? We communicate not only with the words we use, but with the expressions on our face and body language. While not intentional, your loose skin may be sending the wrong message.

Are you okay settling with loose skin and appearing to be tired and stressed out, or is looking refreshed, relaxed and youthful important to you? If you want to look your very best, schedule an appointment with Dr. Waters today to discuss how a rhytidectomy can improve the appearance of your face or keep reading below.
What is a rhytidectomy (facelift)?
A rhytidectomy, commonly known as a facelift, is a cosmetic surgery that is often misunderstood. It is a surgical procedure that involves making incisions and removing muscle and skin to tighten the skin around your face and neck. This gives you a youthful and natural look. Contrary to popular belief, a facelift is not a procedure that involves your entire face. The procedure is focused on the lower half, from just below your nose to the bottom of your neck. It can, however, be paired with a brow lift to refresh the top and bottom of your face.
At CT ENT, rhytidectomy is an outpatient procedure that takes from 2-5 hours to complete and is administered under local or general anesthesia.
The most common rhytidectomy, a comprehensive facelift, involves an incision made under the chin, which will allow the surgeon to reduce excess skin and muscle in that area, tightening the look of the skin and providing a long-lasting result. An incision may also be made near the hairline on each side of your head near your ears. After the incision is made, skin in that area is moved back and facial tissues and skin are reshaped and altered as necessary.
The specific incisions made during your facelift will vary based on your needs and the preferences of your surgeon. A platysmaplasty, known as a neck lift, is also a common procedure performed during a rhytidectomy, which corrects saggy skin located on the neck.
As mentioned above, a facelift may be paired with additional surgical procedures to refresh other parts of your face not commonly addressed with a facelift, including:
- Forehead
- Cheeks
- Brows
- Eyelids
After skin and tissue have been removed and reshaped to give your face the youthful look you want, sutures or staples will be used to close the incisions. Bandages and an under-the-skin drain may also be used to collect draining blood or other fluids from the procedure to help the healing process take place.
