What is a brow lift?

Think you couldn't benefit from a brow lift? Take the time for a consultation with Dr. Waters to determine if its right for you.

While a facelift focuses on bringing youth back to the lower half of your face, a brow lift assists in minimizing the impact aging has on the top half of your face. This cosmetic procedure, also called a forehead rejuvenation or lift, lifts your brow by raising tissue and skin in the forehead, lessening the appearance of wrinkles and bringing a livelier look to your face. A brow lift may be paired with a facelift to gain a youthful appearance in the top and bottom of your face.

As an outpatient procedure, a brow lift is performed by a surgeon under general anesthesia and lasts from 1-2 hours. There are various types of brow lifts that your surgeon may recommend, including:

Endoscopic: Endoscopic procedures are completed with an endoscope, which is a thin tube with a small camera and light attached. Through an incision, your surgeon will insert the endoscope to observe the formation of your tissues, and then lift those tissues and hold them in place with the aid of sutures.

Coronal: During a coronal brow lift, your forehead will be lifted and held in a new position after incisions are made across the top of your head from one ear to the other. This technique requires a low hairline and is not recommended for those who may bald later in life. The scalp is sewn back together after overlapping skin is removed.

Hairline: A hairline brow lift, as the name implies, involves removing skin and tissue not from your scalp but from the top of your forehead near your hairline.  This technique preserves your hairline while others may slightly pull back the position of your hairline.

A brow lift provides long-term results that typically last several years for our patients. Brow lifts are known to outlast the performance of single Botox injections, which last “four to six months on average” with the first treatment expected to last a shorter period of time (1).

Could you benefit from a brow lift? Here’s how to tell.

If you're searching for a wrinkle free forehead, consider a browlift from CT ENT

If your brow is starting to sag, bringing your look and self-confidence down a notch, you may benefit from a brow lift. CT ENT patients who benefit from a brow lift want to accomplish the following:

  • A wrinkle-free forehead
  • Smooth skin between the eyes
  • Eliminate frown lines found in the middle of the eyebrows
  • Perky brows that don’t interfere with the upper eyelids.

If you want to stop looking tired or angry because of the positioning of your brow, raising your eyebrows with a brow lift could be the right solution to fix your problem. Take action now and schedule an appointment with CT ENT's Facial Cosmetic Surgeon.

Brow lift recovery. What to expect.

Dr. Heather Waters will guide you through your brow lift and explain the procedure, risks, and how you can help aid a speedy and proper recovery, which may take several weeks. Your surgeon will assist you in determining when you can resume normal and strenuous activities.

After the procedure, you will be asked to sleep with your head supported and elevated and prescribed medication to help ease the pain. Due to the incisions made and skin removed, there may be excess blood and fluid that needs to be drained through a small tube. Using ice and cold compresses can reduce swelling and give you additional comfort.

Sutures, which assist in holding your skin in place will be removed roughly a week after the procedure. Scars from incisions will disappear over time and you can expect to enjoy the benefits of your brow lift for years assuming all recommended guidelines are followed.
